The first evening at Auckland Polish Kiwi Language Bar & Cafe – we welcomed MONIKA MIZGIER-BŁASZCZAK, the new Public and Cultural Diplomacy Officer of the Polish Embassy in Wellington
Last Friday we welcomed MONIKA MIZGIER-BŁASZCZAK, the new Public and Cultural Diplomacy Officer of the Polish Embassy in Wellington, and wife of the Head of Mission, Patryk BŁASZCZAK, to our inauguaral Polish Kiwi Language Bar & Cafe. We hope to hold these evenings every 3rd Friday of the month (except for public holiday weekends).
Monika was born in Gdańsk, to family who love sailing. She studied in London, Warsaw & Paris. Initially worked for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, family posted to Copenhagen and now most recently to NZ. Has a seven-year-old son, they are all keen sailors and skiers.
Monika’s passion came through, with how proud they are (and we can all be) of Poland. She stated that the consequences of 40+ years of soviet control and economic management were harsh. Whereas now:
* in the last 3 decades, Polish GDP has grown by more than 900%
* today, Poland is the world’s 21st largest economy,
* today, Poland is the 4th fastest growing economy in the EU
* today, Poland is the leader in Central & Eastern Europe
Monika is now loving New Zealand, the kindness and openness of New Zealanders, and the power and beauty of New Zealand’s nature.
We hope they keep enjoying New Zealand and have some time to experience our skiing and sailing.
